64-bit or 32-bit?

Windows 10 and 11 are 64-bit on almost every current PC, so the 64-bit installer is the right choice for most people. Use the 32-bit build only on an older machine running a 32-bit version of Windows. The portable ZIP is the same 64-bit application, but it does not write to the system: unzip it to a folder or USB drive and run it directly. Install step by step

Click 64-bit installer above to get the file from the official v1.9.2 release.
Run mmex-1.9.2-win64.exe from your Downloads folder.
Follow the setup wizard: accept the GPL v2 licence, choose an install folder, and finish.
Open Money Manager Ex and create a new database file — this single file holds all your data and can be AES-256 encrypted.
Add your accounts and start entering transactions. Nothing is uploaded; the data stays on your PC.

Windows may show a SmartScreen prompt the first time you run a freshly released open-source installer, because the file is new and not yet widely downloaded. This is expected. Choose More info › Run anyway, or verify the file against the checksums published on the official release page before running it.

System requirements

Money Manager Ex is light on resources. It runs on Windows 10 and Windows 11 (and still works on older 64-bit or 32-bit Windows), needs only a few hundred megabytes of free disk space, and runs comfortably on 2 GB of RAM or more. Because your data lives in one local SQLite file, the size on disk grows slowly even after years of daily transactions.

Updating and removing MMEX

To update, download the latest installer from the download hub and run it over your current version — your database file is separate and is left untouched. Keep a copy of that .mmb file as your backup. To uninstall, use Settings › Apps › Installed apps on Windows 11 (or Apps & features on Windows 10), find Money Manager Ex and choose Uninstall; the portable build needs no uninstall — just delete its folder. Your data file is never removed by uninstalling, so back it up or move it first if you no longer need it.

Does it run on Windows 10 and Windows 11?: Yes. The same v1.9.2 build runs on both Windows 10 and Windows 11. The 64-bit installer is the right choice for current PCs.
Should I pick the installer or the portable ZIP?: Use the installer if you want it in the Start menu like any normal app. Use the portable ZIP if you want to run it from a USB stick or without changing the system.
Why did SmartScreen warn me?: A newly released installer has not built up download history yet, so SmartScreen shows a caution. Click More info then Run anyway, or check the file against the official checksums first.
